Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 2nd month the 10th 1878.

The 1st, second and 8th queries were read in this meeting and are directed to be forwarded to the ensuing Quarterly Meeting by Susannah Davis, Mary Beals, and Elizabeth Burks whom we appoint as our representatives and they are directed to report to next meeting what may be given them in charge.

The Friends appointed to visit Cynthia Meadows report they paid her a visit satisfactory and that she wishes to retain her right of membership in the Friends. Susan Bones is directed to inform her she is retained as a member.

(P 96) Sarah Bones and Mary Bales (Beals) are appointed to propose the name of suitable Friends to serve this Meeting as overseers and to report to next Monthly Meeting.

The Preparative Meeting informs this Meeting that John J. Collins and Susanna Collins his wife request to be joined in membership with Friends. Susan Bones and Elizabeth Burks are appointed with a like committee of Men Friends to visit them on account thereof and report to next meeting.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 3rd month the 10th 1870.

The Friends appointed to attend the Quarterly Meeting as our representatives report they all attended but one for whom a satisfactory reason was given.

The Friends appointed concerning overseers report the names of Ann White and Susan F. Bones with which the Meeting unites and they are appointed to fill that station.

The Friends appointed to visit John L. Collins and wife report attended to and that they find no cause to hinder them from becoming members of our Society and they are united accordingly.

A minute on the State of Society was read in our Meeting which was satisfactory and instructive.

Read an epistle from London Yearly Meeting which has been satisfactory and encouraging to this Meeting.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 4th month the 20th 1878.

The Preparative Meeting informs this Meeting that Ellen Bones wishes to be joined in membership with the Society of Friends.

(P 97) Sarah Henley and Mary Wasson are appointed to visit her on account thereof and report to next Monthly Meeting.

An epistle was read from Baltimore Yearly Meeting which was satisfactory and encouraging to the Meeting.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 5th month the 18th 1878. The clerk not being present, Elizabeth Burks was appointed clerk for the day.

The first, second and eighth queries were read in this meeting and are directed to be forwarded to the ensuing Quarterly Meeting by the following named Friends Women whom we appoint as our representatives and they are directed to report to next meeting what may be given them in charge: Elizabeth Burks, Mary Bales (Beals) and Sarah Henley. Rebecca Averill and Susannah Davis are appointed caretakers in the ensuing Quarterly Meeting and are directed to report to next Monthly Meeting.

The committee appointed to visit Ellen Bones, not being ready to report, they are continued to next Monthly Meeting.

Answers to the queries:

1st - All the meetings for worship and discipline have been attended. Mid-week meetings are generally small. No unbecoming behavior noticeable. The hour of meeting pretty well observed.

2nd - Friends are preserved in Christian love one toward another. Tale bearing and distraction are discouraged and mostly avoided. No differences that we know of.

8th - Care has been taken to deal with offenders as queried.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 6th month the 15th 1878.

(P 98) The friends appointed to attend the Quarterly Meeting report they attended and that nothing was given them. The caretakers that were appointed to attend the Quarterly Meeting report they attended.

The Friends appointed to visit Ellen Bones report they had an interview with her which was satisfactory and that they find no cause to hinder her from being united in membership with us which was united with. The following named Friends are appointed to inform her of her reception and report to next meeting: Rebecca Averill and Ann White.

Received a certificate for Sarah Jane Stanley from Springfield Monthly meeting dated 1st month the 17th 1878. Elizabeth Burks and Sarah Bones are appointed to inform her that the Meeting is united, giving her right of membership.

Sarah Henley and Ann White are appointed to bring forward the name of a suitable Friend to serve the Meeting for clerk and report to next meeting.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 8th month the 17th 1878.

(P 113) The Friends appointed to bring forward the names of a suitable Friend to serve as clerk the ensuing year propose the name of Sarah Henley with which this meeting unites and she is appointed accordingly.

The queries with written answers were read in the meeting and approved and are directed to be forwarded to the ensuing Quarterly Meeting by the following named Friends whom we appoint our representatives: Sarah Bones, Louisa Updegraff and Susan Bones.

Answers to the queries:

1st Ans. - All the meetings for worship and discipline have been attended. No unbecoming behavior therein. The hour of meeting nearly observed.

2nd Ans. - Friends are preserved in Christian love one toward another. Talebearing and detraction nearly avoided. No differences amongst us.

3rd Ans. - Friends endeavor to educate their children and those under their care in the principles of Christian religion. Not as much regard for plainness as would be best. Pernicious reading and corrupt conversation discouraged. They are encouraged to read the Holy Scriptures.

4th Ans. - Friends are clear under the several heads of this query so far as we know.

6th Ans. - Care is taken in the several heads of this query.

7th Ans. - Friends are careful as far as appears on the several heads of this query.

8th Ans. - Care is taken to deal with offenders as queried after.

(P 114) Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 9th month 21st 1878.

The Friends appointed to attend the Quarterly Meeting as representatives report they all attended and there was nothing given them for this meeting.

Spring Grove Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held 11th month 19th 1878.

There appears, by an extract taken from minutes of the Preparative Meeting, that Wm. J. Ellis and Harriett J. Ellis his wife request to be joined in membership with the Society of Friends. After a time of deliberation thereon, this meeting is united in receiving them. Lydia Arnold and Elizabeth Burks are appointed in conjunction with a like committee of Men Friends to visit them on account thereof and drop a word of encouragement if (way) opens for it and report to next meeting.

Read an Epistle from Canada Yearly Meeting of Women Friends which was edifying to us.

The Friends appointed to visit Wm. J. and Harriett J. Ellis report they have attended to their appointment.

Lucy E. Burks and Lydia Arnold are appointed to attend the ensuing Quarterly Meeting as representatives and they are directed to report to next meeting of their attendance and what may be given them in charge for this Meeting.

It appears, from an extract taken from the minutes of the Preparative Meeting, that William Cash and Mary his wife request to be joined in membership with the Society of Friends. After a time of deliberation thereon, this Meeting is united in receiving them. Lydia Arnold and Elizabeth Burks are appointed in conjunction with a like committee of Men Friends to visit them on account thereof and report to next meeting.

By direction of the Monthly Meeting the meeting of Ministers, Elders and Overseers be changed to sixth day at 2 o'clock previous to Monthly Meeting.
